1. The Diamond-Faceted Umbrella Roof

Inaugurated in January 2016 in Décines-Charpieu just east of Lyon, Groupama Stadium (also known as Parc OL) was designed by architectural giant Populous. Its defining architectural hallmark is an expansive 53,700-square-meter overarching roof that overhangs the exterior perimeter, creating an expansive sheltered outdoor concourse for gathering fans.

2. Acoustic Enclosure for Bad Gones & Lyon 1950

The stadium bowl was specifically engineered to focus sound on the pitch center. The underside of the canopy is fitted with acoustic baffle panels that minimize echo while amplifying frequency ranges generated by supporter drums and synchronized chanting from the Virage Nord (Bad Gones 1987) and Virage Sud (Lyon 1950).

3. OL Vallée Eco-Entertainment Ecosystem

Unlike city-center legacy stadiums, Groupama Stadium serves as the anchor of the 50-hectare OL Vallée sports and leisure district, featuring the LDLC Arena for indoor concerts and basketball, training facilities, a museum, hotels, and renewable solar power arrays supplying over 100% of the complex's baseline energy.

4. Tramway Transit & Shuttle Access

Access to Groupama Stadium on matchdays is managed via the specialized T7 Tramway and dedicated direct tram shuttles operating from Lyon Part-Dieu central station and Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie directly to the stadium concourse in under 20 minutes.
